Pokut & Sal Plateau – Black Sea Highland Villages and Mountain Views

Pokut and Sal are two of the better-known highland areas around the Kaçkar Mountains. The route combines mountain roads, traditional wooden houses, old bridges and open highland landscapes.

The journey follows Fırtına Valley, passing through villages and forested mountain slopes.

A stop at Şenyuva (Çinçiva) Bridge gives you a chance to see one of the traditional stone bridges of the region.

From here, the road climbs towards Pokut Plateau, where the traditional wooden houses sit along the mountain slope. On suitable days, the surrounding valleys and distant peaks can be seen from the plateau.

We then continue to Sal Plateau, another highland settlement known for its wooden houses and open landscape.
