How to Get to Cappadocia

Tour Details

Cappadocia is located in central Türkiye, and the easiest way to reach the region for most international visitors is by flying from Istanbul.

There are two main airports serving Cappadocia: Nevşehir Kapadokya Airport and Kayseri Erkilet Airport. Both can be used to reach the main tourist areas around Göreme, Uçhisar, Avanos and Ürgüp.

Flights from Istanbul usually take around one hour and fifteen minutes, making air travel the most practical option when Cappadocia is part of a multi-city Türkiye itinerary.

Once you arrive, you can continue to your hotel by shared shuttle, private transfer or taxi. A private transfer can be particularly convenient if you are travelling with luggage or arriving at an unusual hour.

It is also possible to reach Cappadocia by long-distance bus. Buses connect the region with Istanbul and other Turkish cities, but the journey takes considerably longer than flying.

If you are travelling from Istanbul and have limited time, we generally recommend flying rather than spending most of a day on the road. For a longer Türkiye itinerary, Cappadocia can also be combined conveniently with destinations such as Istanbul, Konya, Antalya or the Aegean region.

The best transportation option depends on your complete itinerary, not just the distance between two cities. Planning the route as a whole can save both time and unnecessary transfers.
