Artvin Borçka Karagöl – Mountain Roads, Local Villages & Forests

This is a longer day trip from Trabzon, taking you east towards Artvin and Borçka. The route passes through mountain valleys and small settlements before reaching Borçka Karagöl Nature Park.

The first stops introduce you to some of the traditional architecture and local history of the region. We visit Memiş Ağa Mansion, followed by Muratlı, where the mosque and dam are surrounded by mountain scenery.

The road then continues towards Karşıköy, an area affected by the construction of the dam and known locally as the Sunken Village.

After passing through Borçka, we continue into the mountains towards Karagöl.

Surrounded by forest, the lake is one of the main natural attractions in the area. There is free time to walk around the lake and enjoy the surroundings before starting the return journey.
